Discovering Our Spirituality & Needs

Praying the Mystery

I am exploring the different ways we connect with God.  Did you know that each of us has our own best way of being our spiritual self?  Have you ever left a worship service feeling particularly moved, surprised, or inspired?  You've probably had your spiritual buttons pressed!  When we know what these "buttons" are, or perhaps more aptly said, when we know how we best meet God in our way of being, we are enriched and fulfilled.

Sure, we can learn ways of being and we can even make connections with God in these ways too, but if you are a person who connects with God in nature, you know the effect of sitting on a high mountain perch overlooking the valley below.  You know what it feels like to sit on the beach and watch the sun set as the waves lap at the shore.

In the same way, you may feel closest to God when you are deep in study of the  Bible or while reading a book that helps to inform your spirituality.  Others may find that it is in the "doing" or "hands and feet" of ministry that they find their greatest connection with God.

No matter which method best suits us, we all need to come together in community, at worship, and share our experiences of God in daily life.  We are in need of community to bring balance to our lives and to help us remember what it means to live as a people of God in relationship with its Creator.
